When Does Aging Start To Show?
Here's a timeline for watching your face age:
20s : After the hormonal turmoil of the teen years, skin stabilizes (though oily regions may still be a problem). Some facial skin dries, and the first very fine lines may fan out around the eyes and mouth.
30s : Collagen and elastin break down and skin under the eyes becomes thinner, showing more fine lines. Broken veins may begin to show, and some thirtysomethings even experience their first age spots. If there is sun damage, expect enlarged pores and rougher skin. Puffiness under the eyes may begin.
40s : As skin loses its elasticity, expect lines at the mouth, eyes and forehead to grow deeper. Skin may be visibly drier, though some women encounter teen-like oily spots as menopause approaches. Skin may be more sensitive in late 40s, and circles under the eyes can become pouches.
50s and older : As estrogen levels drop, wrinkles and lines deepen. Skin can sag and droop, and some women can develop "jowls." Skin tone becomes uneven, and age spots multiply.
The basics for skin care continue to apply to youth as well as aging adults alike: sun protection, treating the skin type you have (not all youths have oily skin and the mature adults dry skin), firming skin by stimulating the production of collagen and lightening of hyperpigmentation.
TouchSkin offers an array of skincare that helps delay skin aging thus making the skin continuingly youthful.
